A Rainy Day in Amsterdam
It was a typical rainy day in Amsterdam, and Uma, a spirited retired English teacher in her late 60s, sat by her window, reflecting on life. With her children busy with their own lives, she longed for connection, purpose, and a way to rediscover her inner strength.
Finding Meaningful Connection
Her daughters, determined to help, searched for meaningful activities to brighten her days, but soon realised that this was no easy task. After days of contacting people, eventually, they found Maria, a young woman eager to learn English.
A Beautiful Connection
What started as simple conversation sessions soon blossomed into a beautiful friendship, reigniting Uma's love for teaching and helping her feel valued again.
A New Passion Emerges
Inspired by this newfound energy, Uma then started learning the basics of painting from Jenela, a talented young art student. She discovered a love for art and really looked forward to her art sessions and her conversations with Jenela.
A Vision Takes Shape
Amazed by the positive impact of these interactions, both on her mother's wellbeing as well as the younger ladies, Rashmi, Uma's eldest daughter, began to dream bigger. What if there was a way to create more of these transformative exchanges?
Sharing my knowledge gave me a lot of joy; I felt valued. Learning helped me get rid of my inhibitions and opened my mind to new possibilities. My lonely world filled up with shades of color and joy. I'm lucky that there was someone there to push me to try something new, someone who believed in my talent. I'm glad SparkOn is there for others.

Starting to paint with oils on canvas, Uma gradually shifted to digital art, experimenting with different styles and media.
Each piece represents not just artistic growth, but personal transformation. She takes great pride in her art and beams with all the positive feedback and encouragement she receives.
SparkOn was born from this powerful idea: to create a space for live, interactive learning, where people can connect, grow, and transform together. Rashmi, driven by her vision of empowerment, teamed up with Paul, who brought his technical expertise and creative ideas to the table.
With the support and guidance of Radhika, Chinmai, and Ahcene, they turned this dream into reality.
