In the rapidly evolving technological landscape which is shaping our lives in unprecedented ways, learning can no longer be optional, it has to become a mindset ingrained in our daily lives. It’s not merely about what we know, but our capacity to adapt, innovate, and collaborate in ways that AI cannot replicate. It's about being open to new ideas, technologies, and opportunities for growth, regardless of age or profession. In this age of uncertainty, the ability to learn continuously is our greatest asset.

In order to adapt to the transformation in our learning and work environments, we need to understand how best Human Intelligence (HI) can work with Artificial Intelligence(AI). We must expand HI to complement AI, and focus on developing uniquely human skills - curiosity, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, resilience, ethical judgment, complex problem solving, and interpersonal skills. These skills can only be learned through interactive learning that fosters collaboration, communication, and diverse perspectives.

Experiential learning through collaboration

Education systems, workplaces, and individuals themselves must adopt an experiential and collaborative approach to learning where ideas can be exchanged among people from different backgrounds and cultures. Not only will this enhance our creativity and innovation, it will nurture the uniqueness of each person and also develop an appreciation for diverse viewpoints, making us more cohesive as a society.

Building global learning communities

Technology can be used to connect people globally and create vibrant learning communities that transcend geographical barriers. Face-to-face interactions and sharing knowledge with diverse people will enrich our learning experiences, and help us develop people skills like teamwork, leadership, active listening, staying positive and managing conflict. These communities can serve as hubs of innovation, skill development, mutual support and lifelong learning on a global scale.

“Success in the future will be based not on how much people know, but on their ability to think and act creatively” - Charles-Henri Besseyre Des Horts, Professor Emeritus HEC Paris

Thriving in the age of AI through lifelong learning

Lifelong learning has to become a mindset, with perpetual upskilling and reskilling in the face of a rapidly evolving future. With a mindset of perpetual growth and active participation in collaborative learning environments, we can expand HI, and empower ourselves to work alongside AI. By embracing continuous and collaborative learning, we not only future-proof ourselves but also contribute to a more resilient, innovative, and inclusive society.
